There are 4 Main Types of Roman Shades:

Plain Fold:

This type is designed to bring more texture to your window coverings. Even when the shades are lowered, the folds are 100% visible. The folds are also heavier and more wider than the standard type. A classic option that you wont go wrong with.

Standard Flat Fold

If you’re seeking more of a contemporary look than this one will suit your style the best! As the name suggests, when the shade is lowered, it appears fully flat and when they are up, they fold or bunch up in a neat way. Best for showcasing pattern designs as well.

Soft Fold

Often called the “hobbled fold” and is best suited if you want to leave the shades down most of the time. This type of shade creates a softer, rounder folds while still maintaining a straight edge at the bottom. And then they are all the way up, this type of Roman shade will have the MOST volume. When it’s lowered, you’ll still be able to see the shape of the curved fold.

European Fold

This style of Roman Shade doesn’t have a rod sewn into the bottom of the shade. The rod design is a rigid, straight line across the bottom. Without it, the fabric can drape in a natural soft curve.
